We love this place; set on a gentle slope
overlooking the most famous beach in Turkey, Patara
beach (18 kilometres of sandy beach and the
birthplace of St. Nicholas), in the heart of a village that has
produced grape and olive crops since the dawn of time, with the ancient Lycian Way trade route (one of the top 10 walks in the
World according to the Times) passing at the foot of the garden, this
gorgeous place offers peace, natural beauty, local shops, privacy, living
history...and yet.... only 15 minutes away from the upmarket
and lively resort of Kalkan.
The property itself comprises an old solid stone house that is water tight
and is configured in the traditional way; upstairs basic living accommodation
and downstairs rooms to keep livestock. The parcel of land its sits on is
just over 1000m2 and is mostly given over to grapevines that produce an annual
crop - the vines are managed by neighbours at the
moment. The property is connected to water and electricity mains and has a
good access road.
The house is solid but would benefit from reconfiguration to provide a modern
style of living with creature comforts. An imaginative and sympathetic
approach is required to extend the living space and maximise
the views. We have seen some fantastic conversions of similar properties
(which we can show you) that maintain the character of the original building
and yet deliver a 'Homes & Garden' lifestyle at modest cost.
The property is currently owned by British nationals and the deeds (tapu) held in a registered Turkish company owned by them.
The buyers will have the company (and the property) transferred to their name
on purchase.

This sale Property near Kalkan Turkey is
located actually on the famous Lycian Way.
The Lycian Way is
a long-distance footpath in Turkey,
researched by Kate Clow. It is 500 km long and
stretches from Fethiye to Antalya, around part of the coast of ancient Lycia.
It is waymarked with red and white stripes, the
Grande Randonnee convention. The Sunday Times has
listed it as one of the world's top ten walks. It takes its name from the
ancient civilisation which once ruled the area.
